Property Market - not sustainable

Property prices have shot up over the past few years. Young couples have to commit to a lifetime loan to purchase a humble apartment for the price of a house these days! Government needs to seriously tackle this issue as the increase in prices does not reflect the wage increase of buyers.

Points

Governments are not there to interfere in or to control matters that are subject to demand and supply

I don't entirely agree with this because I believe anything is only worth what one will pay for it. However, there is a glut of properties around the island which are falling into disrepair, often spoiling another's property, owned by warring families. These properties need to be made safe, made liveable and put on the market. This will make thousands of properties available to new buyers and reduce the need to build more and more apartments.
