Artist and Designer Studios in Valletta and Floriana

Artist and Designer Studios in Valletta and Floriana

Culture is dependant on public funding everywhere. As part of the regeneration of Valletta and Floriana, governmentally owned (vacant) locations can be rented out to young and upcoming artists/designers at a very cheap price or as "residency" - in return for hosting educational workshops and leaving the studios open as a "casa bottega" for art enthusiasts and tourists alike. This has become a trend all over Europe, with the most notable examples including the King's Cross (London) regeneration.

Points

This could work both with having large warehouse style spaces for collective use, collaborations and co-working (including the grouping together of different artistic / design fields), as well as in the format of smaller, more intimate and more accessible studios that could also double as gallery spaces.
