When my children were younger and I used to receive the children allowance I still had to work a lot of extra hours to make ends meet. What I found was the more I worked to get some extra money and not be a burden on society the more they reduced the allowanbe. The allowance rhould be cakculated on the salary itself and not on the overtime too otherwise people will not try to help themselves and stop depending for everything on the government
