Many years of turning two way streets with parking on one side to one way streets with parking on both sides have created a nightmare of one ways systems that force cyclists to take massive detours and climb unnecessary hills (try walking the oneway system in your town or village and you'll see what I mean). We urgently need short, bicycle contraflows that shorten and reduce the effort of trips by bike.
