Malta is a short 2.5 hour flight from most European destinations. Older persons do not usually go in for very long haul flights. Valletta could thus be a gold mine. If museums / theatres / churches are open till late at night with a good number of open-air restaurants also open; the main streets pedestrianised, (all fully accessible to all), a visible but discrete police presence, Valletta could be a place where older tourists can spend their evenings when on holiday for 9 months of the year
