I think it's about time we gave veterinary medicine it's rightful place at the University. People have become increasingly aware of their pets' needs and we have seen a number of vets opening their clinics all over the island. These people study abroad and pay for their tuition from their own pocket. At the very least the government should offer subsidies. I know how much people spend on their pet's health. We should encourage this in students who wish to care for animals.

In full agreement with this and there needs to be more work done in this aspect. Maltese Veterinary Students have to travel abroad and spend significant time away from family and relatives to achieve their degree with great financial stress. The next 5 years might be the right time to make this happen.
