Libel laws

Libel laws

Libel has been used too often as a form of intimidation and there is nothing to deter anyone for filing a case for libel even when they know that what is reported is the truth. So one should impose penalties on those who file a civil case of libel vexatiously

Points

Libel has been used too often as a form of intimidation and there is nothing to deter anyone for filing a case for libel even when they know that what is reported is the truth. So besides the removal of garnishee orders, and criminal libel one should also impose penalties on those who file a case of libel vexatiously

And to expedite matters there should be a media authority which further beefs up the broadcasting authority to screen fake or libellous news before these are brought to court, thus nipping same in the bud and pre-empting long court waiting time.
